Staff ranking

The player guide ranks mage staves strongest to weakest:

  1. Wreath of Erenion
  2. Lycaon Staff
  3. Hell Blood
  4. Quest Staff
  5. Scorching Staff

Note that drop tables spell the top staff Wrath of Erenion. It's on the Parchment 4 weapon list, drops as +3 from Lv.4 Parchment (2.2%) and as +6 from Lv.5 Parchment (1.8%). Lycaon Staff (+3) sits at 3.3% in Lv.4 Parchment and 3.09% in Lv.3.

Hell Blood (+3) shows up at 6.5% in Lv.2 Parchment and 10.31% in Fragment Unique Box. Scorching Staff is the easy one: 7.32% in Lv.2 Parchment and 11.28% in Unique Box.

Why Scorching Staff and Hell Blood need less INT

A lot of low-tier loot from gems, fragments and boxes was useless, so the server cut the INT requirement on Scorching Staff and Hell Blood. They're easier to equip now, but they still sit at the bottom of the ranking.

Short answer

GMRGame mages climb Wreath of Erenion > Lycaon Staff > Hell Blood > Quest Staff > Scorching Staff. Farm Crimson Wing and Harpy, wear Linen +9 for -20% damage received, and expect 10-15% more solo CR kills than warriors or archers.

Where mages farm

Crimson Wing is mage-only and ranks 3rd on the EMC-LFC income list. Harpy, 9th, is the other mage-only mob. The Uruk family, Treant/Ancient and Skeleton are shared with archers.

Mage farm slots

EMC-LFC Crimson Wing Mage only, 3rd overall
EMC-LFC Harpy Mage only, 9th overall
EMC-LFC Uruk family, Treant/Ancient, Skeleton Shared with archers
Eslant Harpy family Mage only
Eslant Evil Wizard Shared with archers
Eslant Dark Mare family Separate mobs for melee and mage

Tyon, Cardinal and Grell are open to every class, with Tyon as the anti-AFK mob. The recommended farm buffs are DC Flash, Hyper Noah and the Dryad fairy, all from PUS.

The Bahçe Farm (Mage) quest

There's a mage-specific garden quest, Bahçe Farm (Mage), in Ronark Land, solo or in a party. It pays a Blessed Upgrade Scroll plus Spell Stone Powder, which is what unlocks your locked 70, 72, 75 and 80 skills at 25M coins per turn-in.

Linen +9 and the -20% damage cut

Class armors on GMRGame can reduce incoming damage. For mages the set to chase is Linen, the HP set: at +9 each piece gives a flat 4% with no reverse needed.

Linen is Middle Class, so +9 is open from launch. The Middle Class table puts +8 to +9 at 3% (6% with Trina) for 1,000,000 coins. Lv.1 Parchment drops +7 Mage Linen Robe, Pants and Cap plus Mage Leather Gloves and Boots at 4.34% each.

CR and CZ Party War as a mage

Solo CR asks mages for 10-15% more kills; warriors and archer teams are standard. Small parties get a lower target than a full 8-man group: roughly 50% fewer kills with 2-3 players and about 30% fewer with 4-5. In CZ Party War, rankings and prizes are split into Mage and Melee, so mage parties only compete with each other.

The daily Solo Deathmatch limits everyone to 1 Attack Skill and 1 Nova Skill, so your kit is capped like everyone else's.

Mage starter set

You start at level 1 with 25,000 coins, a Wood Staff (+5) and a +7 set: Mage Hat, Mage Cotton Robe, Mage Cloth Pants, Mage Gloves and Mage Shoes. Accessories are two Mage Earrings, two Messenger Rings, a Mage Pendant and a Body Belt, plus Alencia Wings and Offline Merchanting.
